Day Six

Did you know if you bat your eyes at the gate attendant, inform them you're on your honeymoon and that your husband is a gold member, they'll upgrade you to first class for free? And did you know first-class not only gets extra space and hot towels but FREE DRINKS and STEAK and BAKED POTATOES with FIXINS and TEENY-TINY SALT and PEPPER SHAKERS?!? whew. okay. It's just interesting when you consider the schmucks back in coach get by with a ginger ale and some pretzel twists. Not that I'd ever pay for first class, but it's nice to experience on such a special trip.

We got upgraded for both legs of the trip so far, and I'm still amazed by the many shades of blue the ocean has below. Flying out to Hawaii it was a deep, even, uniform blue that hinted at whales and deep-sea animals. The color here changes every five minutes, and I'm amazed by the sandbars and other shapes you can see under the water. I never thought you could see currents and water flows from above, but the whole ocean is mapped out. I think we're above Haiti right now, and it's very interesting to see some places I've only heard about on the news or in papers in real life. How do they fit in little boats and float all the way to Florida when it's taken us two hours with steak to make the trip above them?

The hotel was just finishing decorating our room, they gave us free champagne and decorated the whole room with flower petals all over the bed, the tub, the table. The pool outside is quite nice, we spent an hour or so lounging outside before happy hour and dinner. Austin made friends with a flight attendant guy who told us some of the places to go and places to stay away from. After some hilarious drunken speed emails back home with the 5 minute cards, we ended the night.
