Fires under me and horses

It's been more of the same ol', same ol' up here. I've managed to snap myself out of my usual doldrums when I get home and I've gotten a lot done this week. Hence the centerpiece count steadily moving upward, the oodles of stuff I've cleared out of my place in preparation for the move, and me actually getting outside for some rollerblading lately. I've lived here for 14 months and I'm just now exploring the neighborhood behind my house? It strikes me now how temporary this place has always felt. In Ann Arbor I was connected and I plan to do the same in our new place, but I never had any interest in making the tri-cities be anything other than a launching pad.

One of our favorite pastimes here at work is watching the local news at lunchtime. It's so terrible it's just a joke. Remember the tire fire? It's finally out but four other buildings have burned down in the last week, and they're just now starting to say that they "suspect arson". Yesterday the on-site reporter was actually trying to interview a horse that was rescued from one of the barns. We nearly wet ourselves, since she was interviewing the wrong end of the horse and looked surprised when it didn't answer. The horse had turned around and she hadn't noticed, so she walked to the front of the horse and repeated the question. One stomp for yes, two for no.
