They're mowing the grass outside my window

Chicago was a blast this weekend. We got all of the invitations put together and all we need to do now is label the envelopes and figure out the postage situation. I have three sneaky tricks to try and make sure they get put into the "non-machineable" category. I'll get around that bitchy post office worker yet!

Saturday we drove up to Gurnee/Waukegan to look at our eventual neighborhood. I was a little freaked out by the concept of this being my home for the next 20 years and getting upset about what I thought the area would be and what it is. Austin's friend who lives there currently scared the crap out of me for a day or two until I could get to a yahoo maps. All in all it doesn't look too bad, and the terrifying/exciting thing is that we're not pleased with the apartments out there. There is a big, honkin' market for townhouses and condos, and so we might be looking at dipping our toes in the real estate market, what with interest rates being so low and not having to move again in another year. I just wish we knew more about when I'd actually get out there, since it's all just up in the air. I have two leads on jobs but nothing's firmed down, no interviews or anything.

Saturday we went to Sears and added more stuff to our registry. We're at a total of three stores, something like $6000 total and we still need more stuff. It's gotten to the point of "sure, toss it on the list, if we get it we might use it someday. A biscuit jointer? Sure! A jack and some stands? Toss it on! A whole honkin' barbecue grill? Hey, if Janine gets her mixer, Austin gets to put his one unattainable thing on there too!" We did put a TON of $30 and under stuff on there, including a dart board and assorted thingies so it should be pretty balanced between big stuff and little funsies now.

I was wondering, "How did she scare the crap out of you?" THEN I clicked on the link, and everything made sense.
