Da Weddin'

It was nice being back home. I do miss California a little bit... not enough to move back, but enough to jog my memory and remember lots of happy memories. Things feel a little crisper and clearer out on the left coast, and they feel different than anywhere else.

Anywho, we had a great vacation that we realized was sorely needed. Sleeping in was heavenly! Loafing around the house in the morning was an added prik. We got to see both sets of my parents and my sister & brother-in-law and catch up in person. Breakfast at Hobees the morning we left was overflowing with coffee cake and good times. Nothing increcibly specific stood out from the trip...

... except for the wedding festivities, obviously. ;-)

The short summary is that everything went off without a hitch, the ceremony was standard yet tear-jerking, and the party was a par-tay! More after the bump.

The longer story includes the rehearsal and rehearsal dinner on Friday and finally getting to meet both sets of parents/family/friends for the first tine. Three good friends from South Dakota made the journey out west, and we all had a blast conversing and connecting throughout the weekend.

Saturday was an all-day weddingpalooza that started at 8am with picking up the bride and some attendants to drive them to their hair appointments. I went to the groom's house and made myself useful by being the gopher to/from the house where the girls were getting ready, dropping off food, drinks, and the ever-so-popular toilet paper. After the eating and the talking with the groom, groomsmen and groom's parents, all of us got pimped to the nines and headed to the church to help set-up and usher.

The ceremony was beautiful. Noone triped down the isle, Orshi and Mike sounded eager yet nervous during their vows, and the first kiss - probably the most important - was one of the most passionate and loving I've ever seen. I don't think there was a dry eye in the house.

The party afterward was... well, let's just say the rug was torn to shreds and the roof was lifted. Conversation flowed like the sparking apple cider throughout the night, the DJ actually played some real sweet tunes, and everyone had a great time. It was the best wedding reception I've ever been to... besides my own, of course. ;-)
