TiVo, MPAA & NFL... WTF?

This article is a really interesting read relating to TiVo.

It's somewhat of a complicated story, but the meat of the article focuses on the NFL trying to influence a request from TiVo to the FCC to allow the transfer of recorded programs (such as movies or football games)from one TiVo to another over the internet. The MPAA is also mentioned in the article, but the NFL is the major focus point.

Honestly, this is a hard article for me to summarize. It hits on a lot of issues that could ultimately steer the future of media sharing over the internet. There are no real answers here, but it definitely opens my eyes. So, if you're bored or own a TiVo, give it a read. And if you're bored after that, here's another site I'd suggest.

UPDATE!

It looks like the FCC granted TiVo their request to send shows over the Internet.

There are a lot of protections and limitations included in the new TiVoToGo feature, but yay for TiVo!
