China painting for fun and profit

Look at him. He seems like a happy-go-lucky kind of guy, never making your life particularly difficult, right? It's possible he doesn't get out much, but he doesn't look particularly evil riight off the bat.

A few years ago I inherited Grandma's kiln and china painting supplies. Now that I've got a little more time, I've been buying old books on how-to and I've been gearing up to start a new hobby. The issue is plugging the kiln into the wall. It's some crazy plug type and electrical requirements need more than what the regular plugs in the garage can handle. Austin's valiantly installing this thing, which has required adding a new breaker to our box and trying to push wires through the wall into the garage. I'm helping in other ways, after discovering (again) that electricity tickles like a porcupine.

Oh Bill Thompson, you are more devious than you seem. All I wanted to do was paint some sparrows and posies.

Joke of the week

Dad: Did you know they eat horse meat in France?
Janine: Really? Austin, what's "horse" in French?
Austin: I dunno.
Janine: Then how will you know if you're ordering it or not?
Janine: "I'll have the Filly Cheese Steak, please."

If I do have to be stuck on the couch sick all weekend, at least I can get some fun projects done. I'm mailing it off to Ellen, since she's got two dachshunds veery similar to the two on the front. I'm loving the retro patterns at Sublime Stitching.
