Fly the friendly skies?

Aaah, the joys of air travel. I was supposed to fly out on the company jet this morning for work. I'd stay there a day, take a shuttle down to Austin's place, and spend the rest of the weekend in Chicago. We bought a one-way ticket for Sunday flying back and thought about how clever we were to save ourselves sixty bucks.

Because of the fierce blue skies and nonexistant howling winds, the jet's been cancalled for today. Our options are:

  • Ditch the ticket and have me drive out
  • Pay $230 to buy a last-minute fare
  • Pay $100 to change the date on the one-way ticket and use it some other time.

None of the options look very nice, but I think we're going with the first one. That way we're only out $120 on the ticket, $40 on gas and $60 on parking. All the others would end up being much more than that.

Seeing as I'm out $200, I'm heading out now and taking a half-day. let's pretend I get paid $50 an hour.
